♪ Recording for「THRONE」

Q1. What were your impressions when you first listened to the instrumental version and read the lyrics?

I found the melody to be very catchy, and the lyrics both straight to the point and easy to understand.

Looking into the connotation of the title, "THRONE," it seems to simultaneously encompass "succeeding to the throne" as a rank, a physical furniture, as well as the theological Thrones (※). To me, these lyrics seemed to take a more philosophical approach compared to our previous titles.

Even during the first demo-stages of the song, I could already sense the song's strong quality and potential, so it was rather easy to come up with good overall plan—particularly to interpret some parts and so on.

I think this song allows to fully enjoy the fierce mightiness of RUBIA Leopard. I was very excited when I first received the material, so I hope everyone can share that same excitement after listening to the title, and draw plenty interpretations of their own!

Q2. What was it like in the recording booth? Tell us what you were most conscious about, and what we should look forward to.

The range was a little higher than usual, so I had to pay mind of how to make it sound like Akane. I also had to be careful of maintaining vocal power while fighting against physical exhaustion from the higher keys. (laugh)

I figured it would be interesting to have a title, such as this one, that could be played in the higher range, knowing that RUBIA Leopard tends to mostly play mid to low-range songs.

I also wondered how Akane would reach those notes, and tried to hit that emotional chord by adding a quiet rasp to his tone... I hope that I was able to encapsulate that "Akane-ness", and that the listeners can feel his energy plenty through THRONE.

Through that album, RUBIA Leopard's evolution seems to be going full throttle! I worked so hard on this song it sucked dry all my energy so, please, make sure to listen to it (lol)

In Christian angelology, Thrones refer to a class of angels part of the First Sphere, carrying holy judgement. Also known as Ophanim, they are often described as the "biblically accurate angels." (read more)
